Blog post #1
About me
During my twenty years f age i have lived in two states, North Carolina and Alabama. I was born in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1991 while my dad served in the marine corps. We lived in Mount Holly and 14months later my little brother was born. At the age of seven, my brother, father, and I moved to Eclectic, Alabama for the next two years. two years later we moved back to my fathers hometown which is where I currently live now, Bay Minette, Alabama.
I transferred from Faulkner State Community College and I plan to get my degree in Elementary Education. I love children and have wanted to teach since the fourth grade. I decided to attend USA because it is not far from my house and I have heard many good things about the education program. I have one younger brother who is 14 months younger than I and a seven year old half sister. My mother has remarried and still resides in Mount Holly. My father lives about ten miles away from me in Bay Minette and has also remarried. Along with the step mother came one younger stepsister and one older stepbrother. My grandparents also live in the same town and are the reason for my determination. My younger brother is currently attending Wyo-Tech in Daytona. Florida. i am a very busy person but would not have it any other way. I work as a waitress at Street's Seafood in Bay Minette and the after school program at Bay Minette Elementary. I also work as a partime nanny at night time a few days a week to two sweet little girls. I want to become a teacher because i love to help. Children also brighten my day no matter what and knowing that I can help them and help them learn is even more rewarding. Without my family and my friends i would not have the drive I do. I love my life and owe all of my happiness to all of them. I do not have many hobbies. In my spear time I usually spend it with the ones that matter most. I love both of my jobs and am very lucky to have them be so flexible with my school schedule. This is me pretty much wrapped in a nutshell.
Dr. Pausch's video
I have never heard of Dr. Pausch before we were given this assignment but I found the video rather interesting. When he ask those in the audience who had a to do list I actually realized I am one of those people. I constantly find myself writing things down in the order they need to be done. it help with some stress and clears your mind of the thought. Although i am a firm believer in the "to do list," I am one of the people as he would say pick the ugliest thing last. i have a problem with that and always have. I would rather pick the easiest rather than getting the biggest thing out if the way first. I do admit I am a bog procrastinator. Another thing that spoke out to me was change. I am so comfortable with my routine i would rather it stay the same even if that meant I had to wait on something else. For example, to keep from changing my work schedule I would wait until the next semester to take a class that was not available on the time and day i needed. I agree with everything he had to say!
